The UNVEIL Project has officially launched its Web 4.0 Competence Framework, a new approach designed to help educators, learners, and institutions prepare for the fast-changing digital world.

As emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, immersive environments, blockchain, and decentralised systems continue to reshape how people live and work, the framework responds to a growing need for skills that go beyond traditional digital literacy. Rather than focusing on single technical skills, the UNVEIL framework supports integrated learning experiences that prepare people for real opportunities in the Web 4.0 economy.

Developed through research and collaboration across Europe and Sub-Saharan Africa, the framework identifies seven essential competence areas. These include technical skills linked to emerging technologies, human skills such as critical thinking and adaptability, entrepreneurial competencies, and higher-order “meta” skills like systems thinking, creativity, and digital intuition.

The framework is closely aligned with European priorities on Web 4.0 and entrepreneurship education and places strong emphasis on vocational education and training. It supports educators with practical digital pedagogy tools while empowering learners to innovate responsibly and inclusively.

At its core, the UNVEIL framework recognises that technology alone is not enough. Behind every digital transformation are people who need access, skills, and opportunities to participate fully in the future economy.

The Web 4.0 Competence Framework is now available for educators, policymakers, and training institutions looking to design flexible, inclusive, and future-ready learning pathways.

You can download the full Web 4.0 Competence Framework via the UNVEIL project platform.
