Press Release – October 2025

The UNIHUBS project brought together academics, digital innovation experts, and policy stakeholders from Europe and Africa for a three-day training workshop hosted at Erasmus University Rotterdam.

The workshop focused on practical co-creation methods that help universities respond to changing labour market and societal needs. Through hands-on sessions using design thinking, World Café, and Living Lab approaches, participants explored how to design more inclusive, student-centred, and digitally supported learning environments.

A strong emphasis was placed on real-world learning. Living Lab examples showed how universities can work with students and communities to test ideas in practice, from sustainability initiatives to collaborative problem-solving projects. Participants also experimented with digital pedagogy tools, including game-based and flipped learning methods, to increase engagement in both physical and virtual classrooms.

The workshop reinforced UNIHUBS’ wider goal of helping universities move beyond rigid teaching models towards collaborative, experience-based learning that values creativity, empathy, and sustainability.

UNIHUBS is an Erasmus+ Capacity Building in Higher Education project funded by the European Union.
