Hapa Space recently welcomed participants to Kumasi for the UNIHUBS Design Thinking Bootcamp, bringing together lecturers, students, digital innovation hubs, innovators, and industry players from across Africa and Europe.

The two-day bootcamp was part of the UNIHUBS project, an Erasmus+ initiative working to strengthen collaboration between universities and innovation ecosystems. Through practical design thinking sessions, participants explored findings from the UNIHUBS baseline research and worked together to develop ideas that better connect university learning with real labour market needs.

Conversations during the bootcamp focused on common challenges faced by higher education institutions, such as outdated curricula, gaps in digital skills training, limited links with industry, and the growing importance of soft skills. Working in mixed teams, participants developed early prototypes, including ideas for digital collaboration platforms and more flexible, industry-informed curriculum models.

Hosting the bootcamp reflects Hapa Space’s role in the UNIHUBS project, supporting hands-on learning and helping to build stronger links between academia and innovation hubs in Ghana.
