The Road to Ghana Digital Innovation Week 2023

As part of the national celebration of the Ghana Digital Innovation Week (GDIW) 2023, HapaSpace hosted a regional pre-event in Kumasi titled “The Road to GDIW 2023”, under the theme “Innovating for a Resilient and Equitable Digital Future”. This gathering aimed to spotlight and amplify the stories, work, and impact of key innovation actors in the Ashanti Region.

Held in collaboration with the Ministry of Communications and Digitalisation, GIZ, and the Ghana Digital Centres Limited (GDCL), the event brought together diverse players in the digital innovation ecosystem including startups, innovation hubs, government actors, academia, development partners, and media.

The regional celebration provided a platform for showcasing digital solutions developed by young innovators and entrepreneurs, particularly those addressing local community needs. It also served as a space for networking, knowledge sharing, and catalysing discussions around digital policy, infrastructure, youth empowerment, and inclusive innovation.

Key Highlights:

  • Panel Discussions and Fireside Chats: Covered topics such as startup support, gender inclusion, digital policy, and innovation ecosystem development in the Ashanti Region.
  • Digital Showcase: Startups and young innovators from across the region exhibited their products and services, offering a glimpse into the potential of digital tools to transform sectors such as agriculture, education, health, and commerce.
  • Community Engagement: The event fostered deeper collaboration among ecosystem players, facilitating conversations around shared challenges and strategies for sustainable impact.

This pre-GDIW engagement in Kumasi underscored the critical role of regional hubs like HapaSpace in creating inclusive spaces for innovation. It strengthened the visibility of digital innovation work happening beyond Accra and offered a strong foundation for continued decentralised participation in national digital development conversations.
