HapaSpace, Kumasi
16/08/2024

On 16th August 2024, HapaSpace hosted the GIZ DTEG Stakeholder Engagement Workshop in Kumasi, bringing together 55 ecosystem leaders for a focused dialogue on digital transformation, artificial intelligence (AI), and inclusive entrepreneurship. This workshop was a critical convening point for actors from civil society, government, academia, and the private sector, creating space for knowledge exchange and collaborative problem-solving.

The event placed a strong emphasis on AI’s role in supporting MSME growth, especially in sectors such as agriculture, fintech, and logistics. Through panel discussions and breakout sessions, participants explored how AI can be applied in business operations, customer analysis, and market forecasting. The conversation also addressed challenges such as the cost of internet access, low trust in digital tools, and limited startup funding.

One of the key highlights of the workshop was the introduction of the Gender Inclusive Entrepreneurship Network (GIEN), an initiative aimed at enhancing women’s participation in the digital economy. By integrating gender considerations into digital policy and programming, the event sought to ensure that technology-driven development in Ghana is both inclusive and equitable.

The importance of public-private partnerships also featured prominently. Stakeholders discussed ways to better align government policy with private sector innovation, particularly through incentives for early-stage ventures, improved regulatory support, and the expansion of community-based digital infrastructure.

Impact Highlights:

  • Strengthened cross-sector collaboration for digital inclusion and innovation.
  • Raised awareness of AI applications and their potential to transform MSME operations.
  • Encouraged policy advocacy for gender-inclusive digital entrepreneurship in Ghana.

As part of its ongoing collaboration with GIZ Ghana, HapaSpace used this engagement to reinforce its leadership in digital policy dialogue and ecosystem building.
